Hello friends.
Monday March 7th Robert's wife brought him to the Emergency Room after a few weeks of Robert not feeling well. After only a couple of hours being in the ER, Robert suffered from a very serious GI bleed due to end stage liver disease.
Because of the bleed, Robert was intubated to protect his airway from blood. He was also sedated at this time and admitted to the ICU. The GI doctor met us in the ICU and did a scope to find and stop the bleeding. It was determined that he had a bleeding dieulafoy lesion, which the GI doctor found and clamped.
After this happened it was days and days in critical condition. At one point Robert was hooked up to 11 different IV drips. His blood pressure would not stay at a stable level, and he was fighting the ventilator. Robert is fighting for his life.
In the ICU we've had many many ups and downs. It seems that one thing will go well or improve, and then we take two steps back with something else. It is an emotional roller coaster, and as his family we are all trying to remain positive, pray and let Robert know that we are here for him.
An admissions representative spoke to us about Robert's insurance. They are only covering $250 a day. We are exploring options for Medicaid and assistance for Robert, but as you might imagine we are facing a VERY large deficit. We are asking for your help.
If you have ever come into contact with Robert and he's been kind, touched your life, beat you in a pool game, driven you in his limo, or just made you smile, we ask you to consider donating to Robert's medical fund. Every penny will go toward his medical care that is not covered by his insurance.
In the future, we will hold a pool benefit, and possibly a regular benefit as well. This is so important to us, because Robert is such an amazing man. There have been so many people - family and friends - coming to the hospital to support us and Robert that we know if everyone can look into their hearts to help us, we will make it!
Please continue to pray for Robert's recovery. His liver is very sick and he is fighting for his life. But we know that we serve an almighty, powerful God who is able to heal. Every small victory gives glory to God, and we have faith that God's will is perfect, and will be done.
Thank you again!
