For the last six years, Black Market Pizza in Ames, Iowa has been selling some of best tasting and most innovative pizza on the planet! We have consistently supported our community with gift cards and gift certificates for various causes from schools to local charities. Our food has received positive reviews from area critics, was featured on Man vs. Food in 2010 and more recently, in Pizza Today’s March issue.
Unfortunately, our store has struggled to find a toe-hold in our current location, where we compete with scores of businesses also selling pizza within fifteen minutes of our shop. Statistics show that six out of ten new restaurants close their doors within three years; we’ve tried our best, but financially, we simply can’t keep the shop open.
So in a final attempt to stay afloat in the profession we love - making and baking some of the best tasting pizza and sandwiches around, we are turning to our friends and fans for support.
We are asking our Facebook supporters and our Ames area customers to each donate $10 (less than the cost of a large pizza) so that we can purchase a food truck. This will greatly lower our overhead costs and allow us to travel to different communities in and around Ames, to sell our quality food. Think RAGBRAI, Farmer’s Markets, County Fairs, and more. A minimum of $20,000 will allow us to purchase a used food truck to make this dream a reality.

If you have ever come into our store and enjoyed our food, help us continue to serve the community in this new incarnation.
