MOVING FROM OAHU TO HAWAII ...

My name is Jack, as most of you who will read this know. I now live in Hawaii, on the very busy island of Oahu, home of PEARL HARBOR & WAIKIKI BEACH, and a couple million people. It has been my pleasure to return to Hawaii at this late stage of my life, after having lived here for a few years a couple decades ago. I left, as many do, for lack of full time employment.
I was very lucky to have found a nice apartment owned by a friend that i have been able to afford, barely, although the rent is 2/3 of my social security pay, My only income, before electric, phone and internet. What is left goes for groceries and sundries, a Zero sum game.
Aside from finances, the only place, this place, i can afford to live is right in the middle of a very developed area, where i have roughly 500 very close neighbors, many too many.
The only real solution to get some breathing room, literally and financially, is to move to the larger, less inhabited, island of Hawaii, called the big island to distinguish it from the state. Rent overall is a fraction of that on Oahu, and while it is still a busy market, the demand is substantially less but here lies the rub...
Moving from island to island is expensive, even for someone stripping possessions down to the barest minimum, more than i have a hope to produce on my own. Since this move MUST happen, and happen soon, i must at least try asking you all for some financial help.
I have managed to hang on to enough money to get myself a plane ticket, pay for a couple of excess pieces of luggage and pay my first month's rent, at which point i will run out of money. Every small donation might help me not have to leave everything i have here behind, or go toward a rent deposit, or buy some furniture or kitchen supplies. I really need help to pull this off, my last move in this lifetime. I have moved countless times before, and asked no one for anything but help packing or driving. Driving ain't happening here, and delaying can only deplete the resources i have left.
The quality of life i have, for the first year at least, on Hawaii is going to depend on the help of friends and acquaintances who can empathize with an old guy trying to live out his last years as well and beautifully as he can.
It is up to you, whatever you can comfortably pitch in, every dollar or two, will have a direct impact on my life.
