Study Abroad in China

Hello Friends and Family,

I’m so happy to announce to you that I have been accepted to study abroad in Tianjin, China next semester, in January, 2015.  To make it possible. I need your help to make my dream come true!

My name is Esther, and I am a graduating senior at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. I’m getting my Bachelor’s in Business Administration majoring in management and marketing. While abroad, I plan to earn a Hospitality Minor with the Marriott Tianjin, China Program, and also to achieve more fluency in the Mandarin language.

Although a U.S. citizen, I grew up in Manaus, Brazil. I left my family and hometown at the age of 12 years. with the goal to pursue an education in America. During the past 10 years, I connected with wonderful people from all over the world, which led me to chase after my personal, professional, and spiritual dreams. Ever since then, my world view has broadened. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited to embark on a new journey that I believe will change my life.

I will be living in Tianjin in the dorms with other students of Tianjin University until May 2015. This will give me the opportunity to interact with the Chinese people and experience China’s lifestyle. This will help me to understand more of their culture. I have worked very hard to get into this program and to pursue my majors, and would not have been able achieve this if it were not the support of my parents and other loved ones.

While in China, I plan on keeping a blog of my adventures, complete with pictures and weekly journals of my life in Asia. As of the moment, you can follow some of my travel adventures at www.estherchuang.com.   I would love to show the world China’s culture, people, needs, and potential. Studying in China means a world to me.  It will help me to be a step closer to my career goals which is to do international import and export. Your support would be greatly appreciated and will truly make a difference in my college education and preparation toward my career. My goal is to raise at least $4,500 for the cost of the program.

Break-down cost of the study abroad program:
·       Program fee - $1000
·       Food - $1500
·       Passport/visa - $300
·       Airfare and ground transportation upon arrival - $1500
·       Miscellaneous expenses - $200
*Cost does not include tuition

So far I have been blessed and awarded $2500 by Gilman Scholarship, which will cover part of the tuition and expenses for the trip. As of this moment, I have some photography bookings, which will help me to save for the study abroad program.

Thank you all for your continued love and support,
Esther Chuang
