Christie Street Fire

There was a fire on Christie St. south of Dupont this morning. It has displaced about 10 people. We have set up a GoFundMe account to help the tenants. I don't have all the information about all the tenants...but one person was sent to hospital.
I met a group of 5 young women this morning who are all from Japan studying English here in Toronto. They don't have any family in Toronto. We have had great support on the Facebook sites; Friends of Christie Pits Park and Seaton Village. Residents have come together with jackets/socks/etc. Many residents have offered their homes to some of the tenants. When I left this morning they were with the Red Cross being checked out and were going to their friends homes for the night.
The GoFundMe account will provide each resident a little something to get their lives back on track. The landlord was there to help with relocation too.
I will try to keep you posted once I find out more.
