Barrett Rolph grew up in a small town in Iowa where he decided he would make it his life goal to become a professional racing driver. In middle school and into high school Barrett would regularly play Gran Turismo, driving all kinds of different cars while constantly pushing himself to go faster. While attending high school in 2005, he visited his local karting track and qualified for the Red Bull Driver Search at the age of 17. Barrett's father believed focusing on grades was more important than pursuing a profesional racing career, and was not allowed to advance further in the competition.

After graduating high school in 2006, Barrett relocated to Las Vegas, NV where he worked for Shelby American at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Working for Shelby, Barrett was involved in the 2006-2008 Shelby GT project, the 2007-2008 Shelby GT500 40th Anniversary project, the 2007 Shelby GT500 Super Snake project, and the 2008 Shelby GT500 KR project.

During his time in Las Vegas Barrett regularly visited local go kart tracks and began competing in SCCA auto cross with his 1993 Ford Probe GT. Knowing this wasn't enough track time, he began investing in PC based racing simulators as a training tool. Barrett began researching and learning advanced driving techniques and car setup, constantly using the latest racing simulators and force feedback steering wheels to drive every kind of car he could with one goal. Go as fast as possible. Barrett started racing in online racing leagues, applying his knowledge in car setup and car control. He would immediately start racking up pole positions and race wins, honing his race craft and strategy in the process.

In 2009 Barrett moved back to Iowa to attend college at Iowa Central Community College. In May, 2011 Barrett graduated, earning his AA in Automotive Technology. The same month, Barrett was hired by Skip Barber Racing Schools at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT. While working at Skip Barber, Barrett continued to learn about car control and driving techniques from some of the nations top driving instructors. Barrett was also a top mechanic, working multiple National open wheel and MX-5 cup weekends, as well as 10 day racing programs at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. After 4 months Barrett was promoted two performance levels, from a Seasonal Technician to a Level 2 Technician. During the 2011 Grand Am season, Barrett was sub-contracted by Intersport Racing as a pit crew member for the Muscle Milk LMPC car for the race event at Lime Rock Park.

In July, 2013 Barrett qualified for Nissan's GT Academy, besting over 400,000 other racers for a top 32 spot to attend the semi-finals in New York City. After two days of competition in New York, Barrett was selected as one of 12 drivers to travel to the legendary Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom to compete for a professional racing contract with Nissan. The show was filmed by Spike TV and aired in the United States in December 2013.

Barrett currently resides in Iowa City, IA where he works as a Ford Technician, continues to train on racing simulators, and competes in local SCCA auto cross events in his 2014 Ford Fiesta ST.
