Bridgerland Area Maker Movement

Threefold Mission of Bridgerland Area Maker Movement:

1. Establish and Maintain a Community Accessible Makerspace.
2. Participate in Continuous School Outreach to Further the Principles of  STEAM Education.
3. Provide Skill, Job, and Trade Training Along With Hands-On Experience Necessary To Acquire Quality Employment.

On April 17th, 2015, The Atlantic  published an article claiming that Makerspaces improve local economies. What used to be expensive tools used exclusively in enterprise level production are now available to the public in user friendly versions. This allows small businesses, educators, and other organizations to join the maker movement with ease.




With over 2,000 established Makerspaces around the globe, they are quickly becoming a necessity for local communities, much like a public library. STEAM education is not easily taught from a video or a book - there is a demand for local, experienced, technological knowledge from a hands-on perspective. This is where the Bridgerland Area Maker Movement can and will help.


Our key objective is to provide a local Makerspace for our community to have access to the technologies, information, and skills that are becoming imperative in today’s daily life. Technological advances are ongoing, which can leave small communities at a disadvantage in which the funds and training can be sparse. With a collaboration of local organizations and the strong guidance from the Bridgerland Area Maker Movement, we are certain that we will change what has been seen as a disadvantage into a motivating force for change.



We would like to:

-- Encourage local businesses, schools, and governments to invest in the future of our children’s STEAM education.
-- Provide educational and stimulating after school activities for children who would otherwise be home in watching television.   
-- Provide adult education in a wide array of technical areas.
-- Become a resource for answering questions that currently go unanswered in the Bridgerland area.
-- Be the spark that ignites creativity, innovation, and invention to all residents of our community.
