Michaels-Baca Family Recovery Fund

Maddy and Karen Baca were in a major rollover auto accident in Santa Barbara on December 20, 2014 while traveling to Santa Maria to visit family. In addition to losing one of their dogs in the accident, Maddy sustained fractures (some compound) to her lumbar spine, pelvis, right femur, left tibia, right ankle, and right foot. Karen sustained a severe crush injury to the right side of her pelvis and right femur, as well as multiple lacerations to her legs. Both have several surgeries and many months of rehabilitation ahead of them. The surgeon expects it will be about a year before any kind of physical normalcy returns to either of their lives. As you can imagine, the medical bills for Karen and Maddy and traveling expenses for Carmen are adding up very quickly. Any kind of contribution will help to alleviate the cost of ongoing medical expenses, travel expenses, and general life expenses while Carmen is on an extended leave of absence to help care for his family.
