Austin's Fight

Austin Asher is my 14 year old nephew who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. After several heart surgeries and countless doctor visits he has surprised his family and medical teams by surviving and thriving. He still has many doctors appointments and checkups, but his heart has been as strong as it can be given his condition.
However, recently, he became ill and was diagnosed with stage 4B Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer. Typically Hodgkin's has a high rate of survival (somewhere around 85%) but with his heart conditon, an the effects that the chemo therapy can have on his heart, it diminishes his chances drastically. Recently, after his 2nd Chemo treatment, he got very ill and was rushed to Children's Mercy Hospital. After several very scary hours, they determined he had a staph infection, sepsis, and the Rhino Virus. He was placed in ICU for almost a week. He is recovering but is still in the hospital. Once he recovers from this setback, his medical staff plans to restart his Chemo treatment to continue his fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer.
Over the next several months Austin will have weekly hospital visits and stays spanning several days. We are setting up this campaign to help Austin, his mother and his siblings financially during this critical and stressful time. All funds raised in Austin's honor will go toward medical bills, gas and transportation to and from appointments and treatments, etc.
