Sandy Wollard's husband, Orville (Lee) Wollard has been in jail in Florida since 2008.  He is about six years into a mandatory minimum 20 year sentence.

All of Lee's supporters, including many complete strangers who have read about his case online, and who have signed the petition on his behalf on Change.org, believe that Lee never did anything wrong, and that a 20 year sentence is an outrageously cruel outcome for a man who was simply trying to protect his family by firing a warning shot.  Lee is not a criminal - in fact, he is a lovely man who always helped people in need, and was very kind to animals, as well.  He had a career at SeaWorld Orlando and he was adored by his coworkers there, but his job dissolved away with his arrest.

There are numerous people who are currently working on a clemency request to the Governor of Florida, and hoping and praying that within the next year, by the grace of G-d, Lee will be a free man again.

This page is about his wife, Sandy, whose life was sent into a tailspin when Lee was hauled off to jail.

Sandy could not keep up with the mortgage payments when she lost Lee's income, and the family lost their Florida home.  Sandy had to do a cross-country drive with only those possessions she could fit into her car, and move in with her elderly mother in Wisconsin, as she could not even afford to rent a small apartment in Florida.  Sandy's mom is herself on a fixed income and sometimes there is not enough in the bank account to even pay utility bills.  Sandy has been through six years' worth of alternating cut offs:  one month it's the phone being cut off, another it's the cable.  Sandy, her mom and her daughter have even seen some winter weeks without heat in the house.

Neither Sandy nor her daughter have medical insurance in Wisconsin and they have not been able to afford needed medications at times over the past few years.

As we are all painfully aware, the national economy has faltered for years, and Sandy had a very tough time finding any kind of employment.  She has been working part time as a cashier at a local supermarket.  The supermarket won't give her more hours, although she is always asking.  Her take home pay is sometimes less than $100/week.

In short, money is very tight for Sandy and for her daughter, who is also struggling to find work.

Sandy has been doing a correspondence course to learn how to do medical transcription, and she hopes to complete it in the near future so that she can look for a full time job that will pay a living wage.

In the meantime, I have Sandy's permission to publish this page, asking anyone who would like to help her, to donate whatever amount of money they feel they can afford, to help her over a rough spot.  She has never been one to have her hand out, and she isn't happy to be in this position at all.  Who would be?  But, fate stepped in and she is truly in need.

If anyone reading this lives in the Wausau area and knows of a job for Sandy, please write to me and I will pass on the information to her.

Thanks in advance to all of you.
