Bandit's vet bills
My name is Lauren and my family's dog Bandit is 1 year and 3 months old and a big loveable fluff ball of a dog, anyone who has met him would agree.
On Thursday June 26, our dog Bandit was shot twice by a police officer after escaping our yard.
Exactly why is unclear, as we have been given multiple fuzzy stories.
We have been told that the first officer on the scene was responding to a call about two loose dogs, either roughly play fighting, or actually fighting.
Somehow, Bandit got back home, to our front yard before the officer had arrived, and apparently charged the officer, and the officer chose to shoot him other than using other methods such as pepper spray, baton or taser. Whereas the American Humane Society says shooting should be a last resort.
One of the shots hit him in the right upper front leg, shattering it. Emergency Vet bills and surgery have cost more than $7,000. The alternative to surgery was amputation of his leg, and we did not see that as an option, as Bandit was an active dog, and he trusts us to care for him. The Police Department offered to pay all of the bills at first but then, come surgery day, as soon as they learned of the cost, they backed out.
Please donate what you can to help with Bandit's medical expenses! Any little bit helps!
