Caring Ministries of Morgan County

Donation protected

We have had a lot of individual donors but still need your help.  The need continues to grow especially during the holidays and as winter sets in.  The Girl Scouts above helped with a Saturday food drive around the county.  Others have sold hamburgers, hosted paint classes, offered car washes for canned food.   Everyday someone is working to build the capacity of this organization.

We  Still Need Your Help!

Every day 18-20 families walk through our doors looking for emergency help.  This is in addition to the individual whose car may have broken down and needs some help or the person who just needs some immediate help because of an emergency.  We don't want to turn away any of those in need.

We serve as a food pantry and emergency services for county residents.  We work in partnership with human services, school districts, Salvation Army  and other community programs to meet those needs as funds allow.

We serve as a site for those 60+ who may be eligible for the Federal Senior Commodities.    We have a school supply closet and do Christmas baskets for families in need that are referred to us.

Additionally with have a "Twice As Nice" store for emergency clothing and that is also open to the public to help cover our operational expenses.

We were established in 1984 as a collaboration between the churches and the community members at large.  We operate on a very lean budget and with whatever donations we receive.

This has been a particularly hard year for the organization and we are asking for help in order to keep our doors open.   Donations and grants are down and the needs in our small rural community are up.

The Board of Directors is dedicated to keeping the doors open and each of them has stepped with their expertise.  We have streamlined our staffing for the short period but know it takes a full time person to do all the grant writing, federal and state reports and to work with the volunteer staff and the families and individuals in need.

Fort Morgan is a community of 11,000 in a county of 25,000 in rural Northeast Colorado.   There are many programs in place for mid to long term help, but we are the one for the short term, emergency help and we need funds to operate and to provide those services.  As with any nonprofit organization there are state and federal rules we need to follow and also the requirements of any grant funder, but we strive to meet the needs of most people that come through our door.

Our main site is in Fort Morgan and we also have a food pantry in Brush.  We are looking for funds to operate on for the next few months, keep the doors open as we regroup, look for another location that is less costly, see if there is community support and look for a dynamic, go getter to lead us into our next chapter of serving the community.
