Fire sets back small business.

Greetings from Tim Wiebe and Lewis Pohl. We would like to take a moment to introduce AVION Harvest to those who are new to us and update those who know us.
AVION Harvest is a small packaging business located in southwest Manitoba. Here we have been packaging natural dried grains and pulses such as peas, beans, lentils and flaxseed for wholesale sales to retail stores. Our main goal is to provide healthy food products that are affordable for everyone. Our motto is from field to family "naturally".
It has taking many years of blood, sweat and tears (time, energy and money) into getting our AVION Harvest business up and going. It has not happened by us alone, but with the help and encouragement of family and friends as well as entities such as  Entrepreneurship
Manitoba, Trade Manitoba, Food and Beverage Manitoba and many, many others.
2016 was an exciting year for us as we were able to start getting our products on store shelves. We are currently in about 40 stores in Manitoba and have two other food chains who are considering our products for their stores.
As you may imagine, with products that have narrow margins we have to sell alot of product to make any decent profit. And while our sales have been increasing, we have been using profits to increase our inventory and have not paid ourselves wages. While we have managed to keep the business virtually deal free, it has stretched and stressed our personal finances.
Wednesday, May 24th, our business was devastated when a grass fire caught our building, burning through one wall and causing both fire and smoke damage to our product inventory and smoke damage to our equipment and supplies such as boxes and bag plastic. While we do carry liability insurance, we did not carry property and content insurance due to a shortage of funds.
The funds that we are hoping to raise would be used to restore the building and equipment to their pre-fire condition and to replace the inventory. It is our hope to be up and running as soon as possible in order to meet store demands.
We owe it to all those who have helped us along the way to get this far and to ourselves for not giving up.
And we will forever be indebtedness to those of you who are aiding us now. With sincere gratitude, we thank you.
