Kevin Brad Owens DGR Relief Fund

On Sunday September 27th 2015, four of Atlanta's motorcycle community suffered a terrible tragedy.  This fundraising campaign is to benefit Kevin Brad Owens, one of the victim's.

On this day more than 30,000 smartly-dressed gentlefolk in over 400 cities straddled the saddles of their motorcycles to raise awareness and help fund the cure for prostate cancer participating in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

In 2013, over 11,000 participants in 145 cities around the world raised over $277,000 for prostate cancer research.

In 2014, over 20,000 participants in 257 cities in 58 countries raised over $1.5 million (USD) for prostate cancer research.

The Atlanta ride started off spectacularly with well over 100 dapper gentlemen and smartly dressed ladies leaving Atlanta's landmark drive in, The Varsity.   At the mid-point stop in the trendy East Atlanta Village riders gathered along the sidewalks and parking lots for conversation, comradery and refreshments at local restaurants like the Holy Taco while they admired each other’s DGR couture and stunning machines.

In an instant everything changed!  An out of control vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the crowded sidewalk striking man and machine.  Screams of victims and bystanders pierced the air.  When the smoke cleared Kevin Owens, Douglass Coughlin, Paul Bertagnoll and Steve Thomas were lying in the street and sidewalk.  Atlanta’s tight knit motorcycle community immediately jumped into action securing the scene so motorists on the roadway could pose no additional threat, stabilizing and comforting the victims and notifying emergency medical responders.

Kevin Owens suffered severe injuries including trauma to the head, both legs, arm, elbow, hand and pelvis.  The results were concussion, bone fractures and breaks, dislocations, ACL/PCL/Meniscus tearing.  He has a long road to recovery.

Kevin is 23 and is a motorcycle technition at Hourglass Cycles, Atlanta's Triumph, BMW, MV and Ural dealer.

Members of Atlanta's riding groups Terminus, Brother Moto, The Lady Fingers and Georgia Moto Ryder selflessly endeavored to provide safety and comfort to these victims and continue to provide love and support during their recovery.

We are asking for donations to ease the financial impact of this tragedy for Kevin Brad Owens.  The other three victims (Steve, Douglass and Paul) have selflessly withdrawn themselves from receipt of any fund raising donations to assist Kevin.

100% of donations (minus gofundme fees of 7.9% + $.30 per donation) will be given directly to Kevin Brad Owens to help pay for legal fees, medical expenses and other costs incurred for being out of work as a result of this tragety.  Please keep these fees in mind when making your donations.

Remember, every little bit helps.  Please show your love, compassion and support for this fine Distinguished Gentleman today!
