Sponsor Ahisha To Donate Blood!

Donation protected
Hello Friends,
My name is Ahisha and I am carer to my Husband Josh who has a blood disorder called Sickle Cell and I am donating blood for patients specifically with  sickle cell. (Eeeek!!) Please sponsor me!!! :) xxx

A little background...
Sickle Cell is an incurable blood disorder which causes unbearable pain in the affected areas.
Whilst suffering a sickle cell attack, sickle cell patients are admitted to hospital for sometimes weeks at a time to be given morphine and other pain relief to make them  a little more comfortable.
During the time in hospital patients are given many many tablets and treatments which also have negative side effects. When an  attack is really bad, patients may have to have a blood transfusion too.

Down in one?

Did you know.....
That blood transfusions actually work best with two people of similar decent/heritage?  Most sickle cell sufferers are from African decent and yet there is  not enough blood from people with African decent  to go around. Which is why I have decided to donate blood specifically for people with Sickle Cell.

Why Donate to this cause?
I will be using the donations to buy staple foods and health supplements to give directly to patients in Hammersmith Hospital. I am personally visiting the haematology department with my husband in July to make sure they all get their goodies!
They will receive things to help them deal with the long term effects of the medications they need to take; especially whilst in hospital on poor quality hospital meals.

What will they get  and why?
1. Pro-biotics to counter balance the many anitbiotics. Anti biotics kill all the bacteria in the body to help fight infection. The down side is they also kill the good bacteria that the body needs - the Pro- biotics will help to restore their good bacteria.
2. Immunity Drinks to boost their weak immune systems and to help stop them  from developing pneumonia and other illnesses. Sickle cell patients are prone to catching many unrelated illnesses.
3. Food supplement drinks to top up their essential vitamins and minerals.
4. Fibre Powder because morphine causes constipation. The fibre will help keep them 'regular' and relieve the pain and other  effects that comes with a sevrely clogged bowels.
5.Nutrition Bars with added nutrients. A healthy snack to have when meals are missed due to the effect of morphine making them sleep for long periods of time.
6. Donation to the Sickle cell society  to help them continue  the amazing work that they do.

And finally...
For anyone who know me well knows I HATE needles and the thought of giving blood is extremely scary and outside of my comfort zone so please please sponsor me to give blood.

My appointment is at 2.25pm, Wednesday 1st July at Ealing Town Hall.
I am excited but nervous so I really  appreciate your support.
I will keep you all posted with photos and video of my journey to facing my fear and giving something away which costs nothing to me but everything to someone else.
