Thank you for visiting Isaac Crane’s fundraising page. My name is Amy and I am Isaac’s aunt. Roger Boostrom (Isaac’s Grandpa) is listed as the beneficiary because he maintains the account that donations are deposited in for Isaac. I created this page in June, 2014 after Isaac’s diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 (SMA 1) at five months old. We were told at the time that Isaac may have only months to a year to live. My goal was to raise enough to support Jenna and Jeremiah as they spent as much time as they could with Isaac and his older sister Natalie. The amount of donations we have received is something I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams. It has allowed Jenna and Jeremiah to spend much needed time as a family, rebuild their home to be accessible for Isaac-including a Hoyer lift in his bathroom, an elevator to his bedroom, and supplement day to day living expenses. Unfortunately, the Colorado legislature has instituted new caregiver compensation hours which will detrimentally affect Isaac’s care and the family’s income-as Jeremiah is paid by the state as Isaac’s CNA.

Isaac has continued to beat the odds doctors laid out for Jenna and Jeremiah. The donations received through this page have been a godsend, allowing Jenna and Jeremiah to focus on Isaac and his big sister, Natalie. In the beginning we were focused on simple day to day living. In November, 2016, Isaac began receiving Spinraza-a miracle drug injected into the spine that stops the progression of SMA and has even given him small movements and the ability to move his thumbs enabling him to control his powerchair and sit in a more upright position.

It became obvious that their home would not work as it was as Isaac continued to grow and the equipment necessary for his care began to fill every corner. In 2019, the family began a yearlong construction project with the support of GoFundMe, Skyline Kiwanis fundraisers, and many others to make the home accessible. Jeremiah, Jenna, Natalie and Isaac were able to move back into the house in June, 2020. Jeremiah did much of the work himself because of his construction background. Isaac now has a fully accessible bathroom with a Hoyer lift and an elevator to safely transport him to the second floor and his bedroom! At 12 years old, Isaac has already surpassed the dire predictions given by doctors at the time of his diagnosis. This is a miracle and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support Isaac and family have received since his diagnosis! He is in middle school, currently has a 4.0 gpa and is in chess club!
