Potter's Village

I recently came back from a volunteer trip abroad in Dodowa, Ghana. It is a small village about an hour away from the capitol, Accra. I had lived there for 8 weeks. While I was there, I had the privilege to work in The Potter's Village, a home for children and women in need. The home is based on the fact that for many children in Africa, their futures are undetermined and many children of all ages need love, care, and protection. Many of the children at Potter's Village have suffered from neglect, violence, abuse, etc. Some of them have even ended up on the streets themselves. The women who are taken in have also been abused or assaulted, therefore they now have a place to stay and even help the children with daily needs. The Potter's Village is a place where these children have a home. A home where they are provided a place to sleep, eat, play and even attend school. At this time, there are about 120 children of all ages ranging from 8 months to 21 years. With this many children and young adults, they are always in need of donations because they have virtually no money left. As of now, they are low on their food supply, which is most important. The founder, Mama Jane, has plans to move the home to a more suitable land that they already own. Unfortunately, there is no money to clear the land. With any sort of donation, it would help tremendously and they would deeply appreciate it.

My trip to this amazing home has definitely changed my life. These children, men, and women are so loving and deserve so much. Each and every one of them have made a huge impact on my life and I couldn't be more thankful. I am hoping to come back as soon as I can but for now, these amazing people need help and any amount big or small will go directly for food (rice, beans, corn, etc), other small projects, and towards the building of the new home.

Thank you so much!! If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate! This means so much and I as well as other volunteers and of course the children very much appreciate it!!
