If you love Comics, Film, Manga, Novels, Anime, Arts and Crafts, Cosplay, Technology and just all around fun with a Creator-Owned /Independent flare! Then join forces with us to bring South Florida another spectacular fun filled event. Be a part of something special!

What is Creator-Owned Expo?


Creator Owned does not only mean Independent or Indy Publishing, it represents anyone; whether well known (whether you work for the Big Two, or other established entities such as Image, IDW, Boom, Dynamite Entertainment, Creature Entertainment, Cosmic Times, etc…) or an Indy artist/creator who owns the rights to their creations (film, comics, webcomic, manga, novels, anime, crafts).


Creator - Owned Expo is a one day event designed to encourage Literacy, Artistic Creativity, innovations in Technology, and Social Interest in the sciences through Art, Sequential Art, Manga, Film, Anime, Science fiction, Fantasy, Novels, Creative Nonfiction, Folklore, Historical Fiction, Mythology and other related genres.

This event promotes creative Independence in the areas of creative media, comics, art, animation, film, and self-published literature.We are a close knit ecosystem, a community built to encourage communication between the creators and the audience.

Why Such an Event?

In a world where social media sites have become the closets vessels of human contact, we seek to have our Expo provide a venue of much needed 100% Grade A human contact. Comic Shops are losing ground and disappearing faster than trees in the rain forest. The Hang out of many fans is quickly being erased, and there is no apparent relief in sight. The alternative… comic conventions or expos, which I believe have now taken on a new significance. I believe the comic industry is taking a shift and that conventions are going to take on a new significance. Soon the only place where fans will be able to meet and hang out with their favorite creators, and get an actual salt of the earth “paper” book will be at venues such convention halls. Conventions and Expos will soon be the last refuge of the devoted and the initiated.

Why Focus on Creator-Owned Products?

COE seeks to cater to the Elite Class of doers Called Owner –Creators.While there are many expos/conventions on the circuit, some that cater to the Indy market, we feel that catering to the creators covers the entire gambit as it relates to the industry and all its niches.

Creator-Owned properties have become the forerunners of many successful film ventures and TV franchises (Ex. 30 Days of Night, 300, Wanted, The Crow, Men in Black, Hell boy, Walking Dead, Kick Ass, The Surrogates, TMNT,…etc.). We want to create a place where creators from different backgrounds in the entertainment world can come together and promote without limits.

Class titles such as Indy, Amateur, or Professional are null and void, here class has no rank. The only title given and worn proudly as a badge of honor is the one select few have earned…Owner-Creator / Creator – Owned.

This fraternity/Sorority (both Creators and Fans alike) is elite because most people never know or understand the blood, sweat, tears, long hours, sleepless nights, nagging spouses, uncooperative friends, and sacrifices that creators go through to become a member of this club.

WHY A GoFundMe! Campaign? Why Now?

The event is two months away, so why do a GoFundme Campaign now?One of the biggest complaints we’ve come across with supporters of crowd funding campaigns is the delay on the completed product or event delivery. COE is in its second year, we’ve learned a lot and grown a lot, so one thing we wanted to do was make sure that the spaceand the event was secure before going the crowd funding route.

Approximately 80% of our event costs are already covered, and the money that this campaign raises will be spent on some memorable gestures of appreciation for guests at the expo. Additionally the funds will be spent gaining exposure to the event such as advertising, posters, cut outs, Standees, fliers, shirts, billboards, community outreach, and creator based educational programs. The more success this campaign sees, the more we can do to enhance the COE experience and give back to the creator owned community. It also gives us a fantastic opportunity to provide you the fans the well placed credit and rewards that you deserve for supporting the independent thinkers that will grace the halls of this year’s Creator Owned Expo!

Location

Creator – Owned Expo will be hosted Saturday August 9th, 2014 at the beautiful Fort Lauderdale Marriott North. It is located at 6650 N. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale Florida 33309 between the hours of 11am – 7pm.

If you are a diehard fan of comics, film, literature or cosplay, etc… then you are welcome to come out and celebrate with us.
Come out and enjoy the company of artist both professional and amateur. Vendors will have a wide array of Creator Owned Comics, Manga, Games, Action figures, and tons Collectables to choose from.If Anime is your thing, get yours here. Wear your favorite Costume, heck design one from scratch – The more strange and elaborate the better. There will be production companies and Film Makers that work in Movies, TV, and other Media…Come out and celebrate with us!
