Design District 2016 Mural Project

The Annapolis Design District is a non-profit organization established to create a vibrant design district in the City of Annapolis (the “District”). The notion behind the Annapolis Design District is a simple one — To build a “cool” urban neighborhood where leading home design, showroom, arts and other innovative/entrepreneurial businesses can create, collaborate and enjoy.

One of our main focuses from our Mission Statement is:

-To improve the District’s appearance by encouraging better streetscape and landscape design to make the neighborhood a more distinctive and attractive place to work, shop and live

The committees and board members of the Annapolis Design District have been working hard behind the scenes and we are now ready to introduce the members and the community to some of our visions for this area!

In 2015, we worked with Urban Walls Brazil on a project which included 6 beautiful and unique murals being painted on some of the walls of businesses here in the Design District. We plan on working with them again in 2016, this time partnering with the Annapolis Arts Council to bring in some local artists, in addition to the artists from Brazil.

The murals are just one aspect of our goals for building up this area, and bettering our surrounding community!
We have visions of bright street signs, sidewalks and benches for the residents of the area to walk their dogs, better traffic control, and much, much more! Some of our focuses for 2016 include:
- Environmental Awareness
- Aesthetic/Appeal
- Stormwater Management
