Non-Profit for FREE Counseling

My Background

Hello, My name is Amber VanFossen and I have received my Master's in Community Counseling through Winona State University and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). With your contributions, we can start a non-profit that will provide free counseling services to those with limited access to Mental Health services. For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of working with at-risk adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. I have extensive experience in working with diverse populations, advocating for my clients rights, and providing case management, clinical, and direct care. The first five years of my career were spent working with at-risk male/female adolescents, between the ages of 12-18 years old, in a residential care facility. The following two years were spent working with families and couples providing Intensive In-Home Counseling services. In the most recent years I have gained clinical experience working in a primary care provider model and providing case management for families who are at-risk or recovering from homelessness while providing psycho-educational incentive groups for parents and families. It was during this time the inspiration for Additional Insight was developed. I am inspired by what people are capable of achieving with the right support and resources, and I am dedicated and passionate about inspiring others. I am organized, motivated, hardworking, and above all optimistic that together we can achieve great things and put a wrench in the cyclical nature of homelessness, violence, and trauma, and start working towards healing, prevention, and progress.

How are we different?

Location "“ Approved to use available office space at The Salvation Army shelter to offer more immediate and direct care to our homeless community eliminating preventative barriers such as transportation.

100% Free "“ by providing free services we are more accessible to those who cannot afford even the lowest of co-pays.

Introduction to Mental Health Services "“Working with shelter staff and landlords, individuals/families will be offered counseling services as an alternative to termination or eviction due to relational or behavioral issues in the home or shelter. Addressing communication skills, coping skills, healthy relationships, parenting skills, self-care, and accountability, while increasing supports, community resources, and structure in the home can potentially enhance an individuals ability to maintain housing and carry on to improving work relationships and maintain employment. We have the opportunity to put a wrench in the  generational and cyclical nature of violence and trauma and start moving towards prevention and healing.

What we need?

We are trying to raise $3,500.oo to start the process of becoming a tax exempt non-profit. Funding will be used to cover operational cost, legal fees, and filing fees. Once we have met our goal and the 501(c)3 tax exempt status is complete funding will be provided through grants and sponsors. But none of this is possible without your donation. Thank You for your consideration and contribution.
