Hello Everyone,
Thank you for reviewing this description, we hope you find it informative and compelling. Please don't hesitate to ask us any additional questions you might have.
If you are not aware of the situation in North Dakota Right now, we recommend you review the description of the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation, the Dakota Access Pipeline, and the present struggle between the two here:
http://standwithstandingrock.net/history/
Be sure to read through each tab: History, Litigation, and Support.
It is also important to know about the Oceti Sakowin camp, which can be found on the same website, here:
http://standwithstandingrock.net/oceti-sakowin/
The Oceti Sakowin camp is calling for support in all forms, financial, local action, phone activism, etc., but by far the greatest demand is for a physical presence to demonstrate strength and support against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Now, knowing this, myself and two others have decided to contribute our physical presence for at least a week, if not more, to serve at the camp in support roles. Personally, I have been a Military Policeman in the National Guard for 4+ years, and have many many hours of combat life saver training, standard first aid training, interpersonal communication skills for the deescalation of of tense situations, etc. I have also been, due to the requirements of my position, tased and pepper sprayed, which will allow me to treat the protestors who have had to unfortunately such terrible treatment.
Another of the three of us has a degree in social services and has worked in the past as a therapist for a number of years. She will be able to provide great psychological support to those in need and serve in a number of other equally important roles.
We hope to cook and serve food to those who have more responsibilities than ourselves, and will need your assistance to purchase and transport the equipment and food needed to do so. However much you are willing to contribute is greatly appreciated by not only us but also by all of those putting their bodies on the line to support the transition from fossil fuel dependency and environemental degradation to renewable energy sources.
