                            Here's a message from Aaron...

HI I'm Aaron Gautreau.

You may have heard that name once or twice before as I deliver the news each and every morning in Norfolk County on myFM 98.9.

As most of you know I am an above knee amputee and unfortunately the time has come where I need to purchase a new prosthetic leg.

The cost is $82,294.58.

In 1984, at the age of two, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma in my right quadriceps muscle. To save my life doctors had to remove most of that muscle in my upper right let to save my life.

Growing up, I broke my femur 4 times, broke my hip, and had more than 20 surgeries on my leg alone to fix and repair countless problems.

At the age of 21, I made the hardest decision of my life to amputate my leg above the knee. I made the decision to be pain free and to chase my dreams in life. My real leg was just holding me back.

However, the government will not fund the leg required because I was a cancer patient. The only people who have the leg I need are those through insurance claims or ex military soldiers.


One option I was told to get the leg for free would be to go on social assistance, but I refuse to go that route, There must be a better way.

I hope you can find in the bottom of your heart to help me get this new leg. I hate asking someone for a quarter, so you can just imagine how painful this is to me to ask for your hard earned money.

I am truly thankful.
