Rotary Youth Exchange to Japan

My name is Aïcha Camara.  I have been accepted to be a 2016-2017 Rotary Exchange Student, and I will be going to Japan. The cost for the program is $8,000. I was awarded this honor after being nominated by the Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club and interviewed by a panel of judges. I will be the first outbound exchange student from my school, as well as for the Sunrise Benton Harbor Rotary. I’m currently a junior at Countryside Academy with a passion for robotics, a knack for learning languages, and a love for traveling. From a young age, I was extremely curious about the world around me. This curiosity led me to travel, thus gaining an understanding of differing people and cultures.

Rotary International is a service organization with a goal of benefiting their community, and positively affecting the youth. Each year Rotary clubs worldwide sponsor students to travel for a school year and be an ambassador for their club and country. The exchange is an opportunity to promote peace and cultural understanding. Rotary International as a whole sends over 8,000 students to 40 different countries each year. Students are immersed in their host country’s language, are exposed to the culture, while attending school. The Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club is my rotary affiliation.

You would be able to assist me in my youth exchange with a sponsorship/donation. The Sunrise Rotary Club has given a matching gift of $1000, however, I still need to raise $7,000. A gift of support of $10, $20, or $30 will help greatly but any amount would be appreciated.
