New Shelter for Homeless Dogs

Donation protected
The Heart of Texas SPCA is a 501(c)3 non-profit canine shelter which has been operating since May of 2000 as a no-kill shelter.  We have never received any city or state funding yet have always helped  the community and animals to the best of our ability.
Our misson: "We provide temporary shelter and care to homeless and unwanted dogs until responsible, loving homes can be found; rehabilitating those that may have been abused, neglected or rescued from imminent danger. We serve as a key informational resource to the community, assisting any way we can with their animal issue. As a no-kill shelter, we do our part to help reduce the number of animals euthanized each year by spaying/neutering all dogs adopted out through our shelter and educating the public on the importance of proper pet care and overpopulation prevention."
We believe that every dog has a home; it is just a matter of finding it for them.
Over the years, our shelter has saved thousands of animals from the streets, injured or not, rescued out of dangerous situations and from being euthanized at high kill facilities. We have helped thousands of people with their animal dilemmas or questions and we would like to continue to do so and take it to the next level.
In a city with the third highest euthanasia rate in the country, the need for our mission continues to grow.
We have a small outdoor only facility which can house up to 40 dogs comfortably. In Texas this can sometimes be harsh conditions to be exposed to for dogs, volunteers and staff.  Funding is the biggest challenge we face, on a daily basis. It pains our hearts every time we must turn a dog in need away due to the lack of funds to properly treat their medical needs or simply because we cannot financially support adding just one more, regardless if we have space or not. The dogs currently in our facility count on us to care for them until they find their forever homes as well; we can’t let them down.
A new facility is needed and would open new doors for our organization, allowing us to help more homeless dogs and more of the community in ways we never could before.  It is also important to seek support for our current facility so that we can continue our mission. It is our ultimate goal to not worry about our dogs being exposed to outdoor elements 24/7 or worry for their safety.  Your support would give us the ability to expand our mission and our services; reaching out to the community and offer low cost vaccines clinics, canine training classes and more.
We need to stop the senseless killing in our city, we need to make spaying/neuter mandatory and we need harsher laws for those to neglect or abuse animals. Please help take our shelter to the next level and support our mission - the dogs need you.
