My real (not yet legal) name is Alex Conall. I'm mid-twenties, queer, genderqueer (pronouns ze/zir), and living with my parents who do not approve of the queer bit. (Dad told me he'd believe it when he saw it. Mom has never said a single word about me being queer. Not one.) I haven't told them the genderqueer bit for fear of being immediately evicted. (Mom speaks a lot more harshly about trans people than about queer people.)

Tuesday, my dad threatened to change the locks so that I would come home from work and find myself with nowhere to sleep. What I did wrong: I neglected to clean the kitchen after cooking. This is not the first time he's made such a threat. Last time I think I'd neglected to empty the dishwasher soon enough after it finished running.

I want to get out of this living situation before I'm forced out. Problem: my income is enough for one to live by oneself on if and only if one has little or no debt. I'm in hock for my associate's degree, back rent (for the months I was living with my parents while I had no income), a couple credit cards, and half my bachelor's degree (and counting). And my dentist told me last week I desperately need to get my wisdom teeth out and the rest straightened, which I obviously don't have the money for.

I'm setting my overall goal for $25,000. That's enough to clear all my existing debt, deal with the teeth issues, and pay first and last month's rent and a bit of furniture for a single-occupancy apartment in Dover environs. The first $4,000 I raise will go half and half to the apartment fund, so that I have two grand in reserve in case I need to move out NOW, and to pay what I owe my parents. Once I have that apartment fund, I'll focus entirely on paying off my parents; that will happen no later than the $8,200 mark. Then I can deal with the student loan in active repayment, which will be paid off no later than the $9,700 mark. Subsequent money raised will go to the credit cards until they're paid in full, then to the teeth issues, and then I'll worry about the student loans not in active repayment.

Any amount helps.

Thank you for your generosity.
