A Match for Kyle Kollar- Life After Cancer ✈️

Donation protected
Kyle Kollar was recently diagnosed with AML, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and is awaiting a bone marrow transplant at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He is  18 years old, a recent graduate of Taft High School in Chicago, and his dream is to become a pilot. He has been working on training for his pilot's license during his hospital stay using an online flight simulator and had been working as a dog walker to earn money to finance his schooling prior to his hospitalization. There is a program he intends to register for training at Chicago Executive Airport.  Many people have been asking our family what they can do to help Kyle during this difficult time. Two blood replenishment and marrow donor registry events have been organized for him and others in need through Vitalant and Be The Match. The first event is in Chicago at the 16th District Police Station Community room on Saturday, December 29th, from 10am-4pm. you can register online: go to vitalant.org, log in and use the code 925A. Or, you can call 877.25VITAL to make an appointment. To join the marrow donor registry and see if you are a match for Kyle, you can go to Join.BeTheMatch.org/match4kyle. The second event is in Georgetown, Colorado at the Georgetown Community School on Monday, January 21st from 10am-2pm. You can register online by emailing Jen Jakobik, Kyle's sister, at [email redacted], or you can call [phone redacted].  To join the marrow donor registry, you can visit Join.BeTheMatch.org/match4kyleCO.  If you don't feel you can give blood or join the marrow donor registry but you still would like to help Kyle out, you can donate here towards his pilot school tuition and flight practice fees as well as his current and future medical expenses. He hopes to register for school this fall, once his treatment is complete. Registering for the Chicago Executive Airport training program allows him to stay close to the hospital from which he receives treatment, and he can continue with his appointment schedule while fulfilling his lifelong dream. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for reaching out to Kyle and our family with kind words, prayers, visits, Kyle's favorite foods, and help with the day to day hurdles he is facing. It is appreciated more than you know, and we are so lucky to have a strong support system.
