Hi There, My name is Bumblebee and I’m approximately 1.5- 2 years old & I’m a purebred Boston Terrier Boy who was abandoned by my owner; Yep, He just dropped me at the municipal kill shelter and drove away never looking back. That was a really scary place for a little guy like me to be, there were lots of dogs barking all the time and no soft bed or people to play with me or walk me… I kept waiting for my human to come back for me but he never did, and the worst part was that every couple days a man with a needle and a white jacket would come and dogs would be put to sleep just cause the shelter was crowded or the dog was an owner surrender or an stray who was there past time limit for owner to bail them out…

Thankfully for me, There was a very caring part time AC officer at the shelter there, and He made sure i wasn’t put to sleep by getting me out of there and into a thing called “dog rescue”… Yea, i never heard of such a thing… BUT I’m alive today because of Boxers N More Rescue, They got me out of shelter, into USDA required mandatory 2 week boarding and for my vet exam, heart worm test (negative thank God) and my shots, and they also got my interstate health certificate and arranged my way to them up north.

So upon arrival in New England I was then picked up by a nice lady and her friend and they brought me to Vermont to a “foster home”… What’s a foster home? I didn’t know but now I figured out it is a place where caring dog loving volunteer families bring in dogs who are in need of a temporary home, vet care and behavior assessment and training, and love us doggies like family members until they feel we/I am ready and then they find a family or human who is a perfect match for my lifestyle… Yea so once abandoned /now rescued dogs like me, get to live with these nice folks for a while and we get needed vet care, are house trained, learn to walk on leashes, play with other dogs and kids, and cats (and YES i am a dog who just LOVES other small dogs and CATS too!)

When i first arrived in my foster home i had no name, the lady there laughed at how i went around smelling all the flowers and things in the yard and she said i hovered like a little 'bumblebee' , going from plant to plant, that was how i got my name! I’m now called Bumblebee and I love being called my name! When i hear my name i come running! I love everything my foster family does with me, car rides, sitting in my foster mom’s lap, walks, and boy do i love belly rubs and butt scratches! I also like watching tv, going for walks, snuggles with cat and other small dogs on sofa, playing with stuffed toys and chewing on beef bones...

This nice foster family that has taken me in and tells me every day that someone will be chosen specially for me, to adopt and to love me and care for me forever. My foster’s tell me i am a comedian, i make them laugh a lot, and i’m a very happy little guy.

i’m so small and I lost both of my eyes because a big dog played too ruff with me. The Rescue had one of my eyes removed immediately at an emergency vet clinic, and they thought they could save my “other”eye… but it sustained glaucoma as result of it’s injury and a couple weeks ago my retina burst from pressure caused by the glaucoma…. i had a blood-filled bubble covering my eye one morning and was walking into walls and in lots of pain. My rescue took me to vet and at first they prescribed drops and ointments and pills, but it was just so painful and seemed worse the next day; so they got me back to the vet and the vet said that to continue to try to put drops/ointments and give me pills for the rest of my life with no chance of getting vision back would not be best for me, they recommended removal of my only eye… After long discussion with the vet staff and prayers it was decided i was young and healthy in every way and being blind at young age would not be as big a deal as most humans think it would be. You see as a dog, my sensory perception is (in order of importance) Smell, Hearing, then sight and touch…. The vet’s removed my eye and i am now no longer in any pain, have had my stitches removed the other day, and i’m still on some antibiotics as a precaution but i’m doing really well.
I have learned to go up and down stairs, on/off furniture, and my human fosters give voice cues to me so i know when steps are coming , when food is in dish to eat, etc… I am happy once more, going for walks with my foster sister, and even playing with her- she is very gentle and sweet to me, when we walk i must be on a leash and guided around any protruding objects or weeds that might hurt my still healing eye socket… I am so grateful the rescue saved me from the Kill shelter in GA and invested in saving my life rather then putting me to sleep due to the large expense my rescue and surgeries and care cost.

So yea, i can’t see at all now, but that’s okay- I am adjusting and am told i will have a long and happy life, my other senses like smell, sound, and touch will get me around just fine…

Even though i can't see any more I'm a really lucky young boy, Since the vet said that i should have been put to sleep if the rescue didn’t have vet remove damaged eyes… on the fist eye it was that my optic nerve was torn out and then a while later the other injured eye had it’s retina burst from pressure from the injury induced glaucoma and i was in incredible pain without chance of seeing again, the vet said if they left eye in i would never see and i would be in constant pain and needing continuous drops, ointments and pain pills…. so removing eye was kindest option for me, I am healing up and re-learning things, I use my sense of smell, hearing and touch to get around, and  i'm going up and down steps on a leash and by vocal guidance, i'm walking and playing & now i can live pain free and i’m told I will be just fine… These rescue people really have been great to me, BUT the rescue can really use your help to pay for my vet bills and care….and to enable them to stay afloat.

For those of you who don’t know, this rescue is all volunteer & receives no federal, state, or local government funding their ability to save and help dogs like me is enabled only because wonderful people donate to help.
