The UNHP Destination Imagination Team - "Crazy For Coffee" - has worked so hard this year on the DI Service Learning Project - the Meme Event. And, the results at competition have shown this. They placed 1st at the TVNCDI Regional Tournament and 4th at the Texas State Affiliate Tournament. They now have the incredible opportunity to compete at the Destination Imagination Global Finals in May. But, we must raise funds to enable the entire Team to make the trip to Knoxville, TN where more than 1,400 of the top-scoring DI teams from 45 U.S. states and 14 countries will gather in Knoxville, Tennessee to showcase their innovative Challenge solutions.
Destination Imagination is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning.
This year, our Team chose a service learning project where they had to use the creative process to identify, design, plan, and carry out a project that addresses a real community need. The Team decided to focus on the high level of student stress over academic performance at their school. To address the problem, they raised funds to build a labyrinth at their school. The labyrinth would be a tool to encourage meditation for focus and relaxation.
This is their first opportunity for the Team to compete at the DI Global Finals. But, the cost of registration, housing, food, and travel is challenging to meet for kids and their families. Thus, we are asking families and friends to please help get the Team to Globals.
