The Quiet Bear - A Story about Autism

Donation protected
Do you remember the day you met your very first friend?

How did you connect with them outside of the world of words? Drawing, singing, or playing perhaps?

Hello, my name is Gretchen Leary and I am raising funds to pay for watercolor illustrations for my newest children's book manuscript about just that and how non-verbal communication is just as important as verbal communication.

The story, The Quiet Bear, is that of a very young girl who is very, very quiet trying finding her voice in the loudest place on world and makes her very first friend along the way in a most unexpected place.

It has a very special place in my heart, as an individual on the Autism Spectrum. I have the ability to speak but that does not always translate into effective communication. I have been bullied and walked on most of my life and I believe that this book embraces the concept of listening to what isn't be "said".

The target age range is between 4-8 years old but I think this story would be fun for the whole family when settling down at night.

$1500 dollars will be for payment for illustration and the remaining $300 will go towards production and processing your rewards.

The painting above was done by Melissa Saylor who is the illustrator for this story. Melissa Saylor's sample artwork can be found at melissasaylor.com
