The Brave Project: support for 2 year old “Brave”
At 7 months old, brave was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, cortical visual impairment, and dystonia. He takes medication to control the seizures which costs more than an average family’s monthly mortgage, which Brittany and Dusty (brave’s mom and dad) pay almost out of pocket due to insurance barely covering the medication’s cost. He also needs physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vision therapy once a week and despite applying for every assistance program imaginable they have been continually met with the familiar discouraging letter of denial.
Despite this heavy burden, they never vocalize their struggle. Instead, they maintain genuine joy in their hearts, and hope that a miracle is just around the corner.
I heard about a family’s battle from a friend in the music industry who’s brother was selling his drums to help with the piling medical bills... I reached out to see what I could do and as I learned more about their situation, I became invested in helping any way I can... but it’s not just their situation that had me in pieces, it was their attitude and their love for their son that really tore me up. To make things worse, their car recently broke down... A complete engine swap was required which costs just shy of the blue book value of their car’s total value.
Christmas is coming and I think- scratch that, I know- we can help these parents who simply want to care for their son and provide him what he needs to be healthy and happy. All proceeds will go to paying for medical bills, medications and fixing their car so they can continue to provide for their beautiful baby boy.
