Cooley Haiti 2017

Donation protected
Hello Family & Friends!
Summer is fast approaching and that means Haiti for the Cooley’s! This year Dan, JoLynn & I (Megan) will be gone June 28 – July 8 to volunteer for Maranatha Children's Ministries in Port-au-Prince.

Please consider sponsoring our trip in 2 different ways:

PRAYER. Please fill out the card and mail back in the preaddressed envelope. Please pray for safety in an unstable political climate. There are many angry people, desperate people. And JoLynn. Please pray for health as there are many risks among mosquitos, polluted water and unsanitary food. Please pray Dan does not injure himself fixing the trouper. Again.

FINANCES. If you want, fill out the card and mail back in the preaddressed envelope with a check. Any money donation will go directly towards our flight and living expenses or towards Maranatha Children’s Ministries. Your financial gifts are tax deductible donations.
Dan and Megan will be emailing and blogging before, during and after to the trip. Once you reply, you will be added to our emailing list.

Maranatha is a school that provides a Summer English Camp for over 500 children and Haitian employees. During this camp, they provide 2 meals a day and teach subjects such as English, Science, P.E and Bible all while sharing the love of Christ.

Maranatha has requested that our church bring volunteers to help by:
Preparing food - chop bananas, boil and peel eggs, stomp roaches (not for food).
Teaching – educate with the help of material from a binder and a translator. Unless you’re Caleb and your idea of “education” includes lots of selfies with your new Haitian bff.
Group Leader - Mainly consists of roll call and taking kids to their classes - which is a lot like herding cats into a bath.
Maintenance – Keeping toilets flushing, trucks running, generator generating, water running, rats running.

JOLYNN:
This will be JoLynn’s 3rd trip to Haiti. Last trip, she was the group leader of about 40 12-year-old girls that doubled her in height, but not attitude. She is the smallest member of our team so we’re considering putting her in a carry-on to save on air fare. *Please make sure your mother is properly stowed in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.*

DAN:
This will be Dan’s 10 [ish] trip to Haiti. He generally drives around buying junk, disposes of our rats, fogs mosquitoes, resurrects vehicles, snakes toilets, tells stories and totally enjoys himself. He is the tallest member of our team. There’s no financial benefit.

MEGAN:
This will be my 8th (ish?) trip to Haiti and 4th time leading the group. I’ll only be in Haiti about 5 days since I’m leaving my son, Memphis, with his dad. I’ll go just long enough to get the team from point A to point B, deliver money and supplies, kill roaches, see old friends and make sure my parents behave.

Love,
The 3 best Cooleys out of the 6.
