Napa Valley Tandem-Cycling Honeymoon

Help us celebrate our Wedding Day as we raise money for a honeymoon!

With life changing events and responsibilities of work and children, Dave & I had never been able to afford to take the time or save enough money to vacation together. Life seems to throw surprises our way, and with my recent loss of employment, the chances of us being able to save enough to have a honeymoon away is looking slim.

Our wedding day is 9/10/11. We have chosen to keep our ceremony small and intimate.

Those of you who know us well know how much we love cycling ~ especially on the tandem! It would be a joy for us to be able to share our happy day with our cycling friends too!

So I came up with an idea of establishing a Honeymoon Fund. With the goal of hopefully raising enough money to enable us to travel, we will host a celebratory group cycling ride on the afternoon of our wedding day ~ a Saturday ~ on 9/10/11.

After a small ceremony earlier in the day, our ride will take place at 4 pm. We're planning it to be approximately 20 miles in duration, highlighting some of the most spectacular views in eastern Connecticut. The ride will wrap up with a back yard cookout & bonfire gathering at our home in Sterling. If you don't ride or would like to invite non-cycling friends to join us for the cookout and bonfire only, all are welcome to donate & participate.

Since we are also culinary enthusiasts, bring a dish to share and prizes will be awarded for the best main dish, side dish & dessert!! David & Karen will serve as judges.  : )

We are hoping for a donation of at least $20 per person to support our goal. Further details on the ride route will follow on our Tandem Riders' Blog.

The money collected will go towards our airfare to California, lodging and food, and rental of a tandem bicycle once we get there. We would love to ride a tandem throughout the wine country of Napa Valley. If funds allow, we would also hope to rent a car to explore the area further.
