Help Fight MacArthur BART Tower

Donation protected
We are a group of Temescal, Mosswood, Longfellow, Santa Fe, and Golden Gate neighborhood residents in Oakland, California, who live near the MacArthur BART station. About a decade ago, the Planning Commission approved a Transit Village there with housing and retail in buildings between 4-8 stories. One part of the site, called "Parcel B", was approved for 197 living units in structures up to 80 feet tall.

The developers, Boston Properties and McGrath Properties, submitted a proposal on July 6, 2016, to instead build a 24-story luxury apartment tower on Parcel B. The proposed tower is 260 feet -- an incredible 170 feet taller than what is permitted under Oakland zoning. Our surrounding neighborhood consists of a mix of single family homes and 2-4 story apartment buildings.

We feel strongly that this tower should not be built because it can destroy an established and thriving diverse neighborhood, and divide a community already struggling to maintain its identity. The city must conduct an entirely new Environmental Impact Report and prove CEQA compliance.

Your contribution of any amount will make our fight possible - All funds raised will help pay legal fees in this pursuit. (We hope $10,000 can cover the costs of an Appeal - if necessary, litigation costs will be additional.)

Thank you for your support!
