Hello,
Thank you for visiting our fundraising site. We are Snohomish County Coder Dojo, we seek to serve children (8-17) in Snohomish County, WA by helping them learn computer science and computer programming languages.
We offer 100% free learning sessions where parents can bring their children to learn. No experience is required by either the children or parents, we have technical mentors that volunteer their time 100% for free. Our mentors are passionate about helping children learn mastery of computer science.
Our Coder Dojo is a 100% independent off-shoot from Coder Dojo international (https://coderdojo.com/), our technical mentors started with Seattle Coder Dojo (www.seattlecoderdojo.com/) and wanted to extend the same opportunity to children who live North of Seattle and aren't able to travel to Seattle. Many of our technical mentors continue (and will continue) to volunteer at the Seattle Dojo.
The money raised from this campaign will go directly to establishing a legal (non-profit business) entity for Snohomish County Coder Dojo and establishing a website. Any excess money will be used in the following three ways:
1) Insurance - The venue currently being used doesn't require insurance but as we grow our organization will be required to carry insurance to use some venues.
2) Loaner Laptops - We will procure several "loaner" laptops for families who can't afford one. We want to offer zero barriers to attending our events.
3) Future Expenses - Any money not used in the above circumstances will be held in an account for any future expenses used to serve children through our dojo.
