These two boys are our world! We are hoping to make that world a little bigger...
We are in the process of adopting a baby girl! And, as most know.. it takes a village. We are reaching out to our amazing village. Andrew, 29, and I (Kristina), 26, have lost 7 babies in the 6 years we have been together. We have two amazing boys, and on July 26, 2013, our daughter passed away during labor, at 38 weeks 3 days.
Due to my history with ectopic pregnancies, and my daughters reason for passing, it is incredibly dangerous for me to carry a baby. I'm high risk for ectopic pregnancies (3 in the past, including a partial ruptured tube), and placental abruption (which is how our daughter passed away.)
Andrew is in the military, and I work part time. I also own a business as a bereavement doula, where most of my money goes to help families who are going through the process of birthing their sweet babies born too soon.
We have always hoped to be able to adopt. I am adopted, and both of our families have adoption stories.
We are not looking to replace our daughter. She will always be our special baby girl, but we do want to raise a daughter. We want to be able to give her a wonderful life, and experience special moments with her brothers and family. We want to give her something she may never have in life, a great future. She is already so loved, so wanted, and so hoped for.
I know that a lot of people judge adoptiong fundraisers as an inability to support a child, but that is not the case. I put a lot into my ministry, and I have also had three years of not being able to work full time because of my losses, surgeries, and our move across country. We have also spent a lot of money preparing for babies we never got to bring home, which then brought the process of donating those items. I guess, this realm of trying to bring a baby home has just exhausted us financially. Beyond that, we are financialy responsible people. We homeschool our kids, attend biblestudies, work within our church, and spend a lot of time buidling our childrens character. I have an AA in early childhood education, and a certificate in Business Administration, as well as two Doula Certifications. My husband has a large set of skills, and we both plan on furthering our education.
I know this isn't an adoption application, but since your helping us build our family, you should know a bit about us. We both love spending time with our family, and visiting historic landmarks and museums. My husband is very into technology, and I'm into simplicity. I spend most of my time learning, playing the guitar or writing songs, and reading. My husband love learning, reading, and fishing with his friends. We're pretty low-key, down to earth people, who just want to make everyone around us happy.
I think what it comes down to, is that we just need support. If you don't feel led to help us financially, please don't. If you feel led to pray for us, please do so. I don't expect us to fill this ache in our hearts overnight, as we have been trying for years, even before our youngest son, to have the chance to raise a daughter of our own.
