My wife's name is Penny. Above is a photo of us which was taken in 2008 just before we lost our insurance. It has now been 7 years since she has seen any of her doctors. This fundraiser is to pay for doctors, prescriptions, medical supplies and an insulin pump my wife needs to keep from going blind and to stay alive. We are learning what it is like to live on God's grace. Thirty-eight years ago, in 1977, I fell in love and married a beautiful young girl named Penny. In 1990 she suddenly became ill with Glaucoma and Type 1 Insulin Dependent "Brittle" Diabetes. A month later our insurance dropped her. By 1994, having no health insurance, and little or no doctor care for 4 years, I awoke one morning at the exact moment to hear her take her one last breath and die. Through a true miracle of God, she was brought back to life and told of a short visit to Heaven. She said, "There was a beautiful
brightness all around that was so bright that is should have hurt your eyes to look at, but it didn't. It was filled with perfect peace and perfect love...the air itself was love...you literally breathed it in...God's perfect love."
A short time later we obtained very expensive high-risk insurance at a cost of $1610 a month, the only kind that was available to a Diabetic. By 2008 we were $85,000 in debt, had no money left, and again lost our health insurance. Since then she has not seen any of her doctors in 7 years. It only took 4 years for her to die the first time. Her Diabetes is now so out of control that I had to quit my job to stay home with her 24/7 to keep her from passing out and dying. This makes it nearly impossible for me to earn enough to pay for even food, water and electricity. Mywife has medicine which must be refridgerated, and medical equipment, and I must use a CPAP machine at night to breathe when I am sleeping. It all requires electricity, and without it we could die. Since we have no doctors, we have no prescriptions, so I have been buying insulin from strangers on Craigslist just to keep Penny alive. She ran out of her Glaucoma medication 2 months ago and is going more blind every day she goes without it. Blindness is completely preventable if we can just get her back to her doctors immediately and get her a new prescription. We recently signed up for Obamacare insurance, but I must raise $18,000 to pay the huge deductables, copays, medical supplies and prescriptions which are not covered, before my wife can see the doctors needed to keep her alive and from going blind.
