Maxwell Smart is our four-year old Toy Manchester Terrier who was a rescue dog. On Tuesday, November 11, 2013, he was near death according to the vet because he had became so anemic that he couldn't eat or stand without collapsing - water had to be brought to him. He was cold to the touch. His gums & tongue had turned white, and there was internal bleeding. Get updates on his progress by donating to his medical fund.
The total cost of treatment so far exceeds $750 including a blood transfusion, a full blood panel test, office visits, and medications. This was money we did not have. And more is needed. Luckily the vet agreed to start the blood transfusion and place him in intensive care for a deposit of $200. We did not have $200, so we borrowed the money on an emergency basis from a long-time close friend. Maxwell was in intensive care from Tuesday until Friday, November 15. We spent all of that Friday's remaining paycheck towards the bill, $300 on the cost of the full panel blood test, and $200 to repay the emergency loan we got from our friend "“ the vet agreed to allow us to pay the remaining $260 for the office visit, intensive care and hospital stay, and medications on our next payday two weeks later on November the 29th.

A Sonogram is advisable at a cost of $400, to see if Maxwell has tumors or some other internal organ damage or defect that could cause the problem to reoccur. If Sonogram results are negative, additional CHEMICAL blood testing would be needed to determine the cause at a cost of $100 per chemical tests. THE GRAND TOTAL to SAVE MAXWELL may easily cost over $1,250.00!
We do not have the finances to pay all of the necessary vet bills to SAVE Maxwell's LIFE on our own, but we are trying. We need your help to help Maxwell. We love him and he would likely have a complete recovery if money were no object. It doesn't have to be IF YOU HELP!
