On February 19, 2014, Budjie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) T-cell, a type of leukemia that is prone to relapse. He went under intensive chemotherapy treatment for eight months and moved on to his monthly maintenance chemotherapy treatment on December 2014.
On May 29, 2015, on his 7th scheduled monthly maintenance chemotherapy session, blood counts have indicated that he has relapsed. He went under Bone Marrow Aspiration (BMA) and Immunophenotyping and the official results confirmed his relapse. He also went under Intrathecal Spinal/Lumbar Tap procedure which indicated that his leukemic cells have invaded the protective layer in his spine and brain.
We were devastated. His early relapse suggests a poor outcome for our little boy. The doctor has strongly suggested to have Budjie undergo bone marrow transplant. Bone marrow transplant will cost us more or less AUD$75,000, but we will stop at nothing until our son is saved. He is only eight years old and is very vibrant, sweet, hyperactive and totally funny. He deserves to live and enjoy his life. Please help us give him that. Please help us save our eight year old.
