Robert Sandler's Skin Cancer
Back in 2005 I had a mole appear on my neck and i thought nothing of it. It was smaller than a dime. Then I had a shaving accident in the shower and I shaved it off. The wound never fully healed and I thought it was still just the mole. Over the years it has grown to the size of a quarter and I thought nothing of it...until about 3 years ago.
I was working at a Spirit Halloween Store and a Dermatologist came in. We were discussing makeup when he noticed my neck. He asked a few questions and told me it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma (the most common type of skin cancer.) He said I should come in and have him look at it...he would cut me a deal...discounted rate of $100.
I looked at the procedure online and promptly freaked out at the biopsy method. And I never went.
I have a SEVERE phobia of surgery...of any kind.
I didn't go to a dentist for 15 years and formed a wisdom tooth abscess. When I finally went, i was twilight sedated and in 5 hours they undid years of neglect and I have NO MEMORY of the event.
That is what I need to handle this problem.
I am deathly afraid of any surgery this high up on my neck while I am awake and aware. And to add, I have super sensitive skin.
I make so little that I can barely afford my rent and bills every month and I have no insurance.
The surgery runs about 5k to 6k, and the need for sedation will probably be more. Plus meds and money for bills while I'm out of work.
It's the news of my friend Brian Wolfe dealing with his cancer that has kicked me in the ass about this.
I need to get it removed quickly...hoping to the gods it hasn't spread underneath.
Help me.
Please.
