Schnauzer Rescue of Texas - 2016

Donation protected

Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT)
is a 501c3 charity. Our legal name is Schnauzer & Friends Rescue Inc (because sometimes we can't help oursleves but to rescue an occasional mix or even non-Schnauzer)! We were founded in August 2014 by three friends, the Directors, who believed there was a better way to go about rescue. We are an all-volunteer organization. Neither the directors, our foster family network nor any of our many volunteers receive a single penny in salary. Every penny donated goes to help rescue Schnauzers. Our 2016 GoFundMe request is to help the organization survive and grow. Just look at our results so far! We must be doing something right!

In 2015, we rescued approximately 330 Schnauzers and found 'forever homes' for 285 of them!  Though we rescue primarily in Texas, we have adopted dogs to any number of states, coast to coast. We collected nearly $92,000 in adoption fees in 2015, we spent $106,000 on veterinary fees and another $45,000 on boarding fees (used when we can't find enough foster home families to meet the demand....and we just hate to say 'no' to a Schnauzer in need).  Pet food, crates, toys and office related expenses add to the expense. The delta between expenses and adoption fees are met through donations to our organization. To-date, much of the the donations have been given from the SRT Directors themselves.

We are a non-selective rescue. That means that we don't just save the 'easy' ones that can be immediately adopted. Many of our rescues have medical issues and require medical attention, time and love.  Lots of love! We have rescued a Schnauzer with two broken hips and nursed him to health and found him an adoptive home. We've rescued a blind Schnauzer and found the perfect home for him. And we've rescued a Schnauzer with an eating disorder that requires being held for 20 minutes after every meal.  We found a home for him too! It's rewarding.  It's satisfying.  It feels great!  But it's expensive. We've spent as much as $4,500 on one Schnauzer alone! And he was worth every penny! Here's his story:

Logan came to SRT with two broken hips. They were older injuries and they had never healed. He tried to play and would hop around mostly on his front legs. What pain he must have been in! We took him in, did the needed surgury and then put him into rehabilitation including water therapy. Look at him now!

Our current project is Watson. He was hit by a car and wasn't expected to survive. He had multiple faractures of the left leg, abrasions and cuts. Can SRT nurse him back to health?  Why, it's 'elementary'!

Our organization, our goals and our results are well documented and it's easy to verify our legitimacy. You can view our extensive website at www.SchnauzerRescueTexas.me or visit us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SchnauzerRescueTexas .  We have a Facebook following of over 24,000 followers and we have hundreds of visitors to our website every day. Look under the "Our Minis" tab and see our Schnauzers that are 'Waiting On You' and read their first-person biographies! Or read about our Schnauzers that have been adopted and are with 'My New Family'.  There's also resource information about pet ownership and about Schnauzers in particular. And so much more!

So what are we missing?  YOU!  Every donation, large or small, makes a huge difference to our organization. And, as a 501c3 organization, your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We hope you'll consider joining the SRT family as a financial supporter. We are happy to provide donation confirmation letters when provided an email address (so we can save some postage)! Support Schnauzer Rescue of Texas and follow our progress. We want you on our team! You're going to feel good!

LEXI
"I'm still standing here and you're miles away; And I'm wondering why you left. And there's a storm that's raging, through my frozen heart tonight. I ain't missing you at all." Well, sure, I do miss having a forever home...even if it wasn't the best of forever homes. I mean, dying my ears and tail pink? I feel like an art project! Let's hope this isn't a trend. Well, you could make me forget about all that...by welcoming me into your loving forever home. Forever! I'm Lexi and I'm a female, white Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a natural tail. Pink ones....I guess I mentioned that. I'm about three years old and I weigh about fifteen pounds. I was an owner surrender...obviously....you don't just get pink ears wandering around the street! I'm crate trained (calm when I'm in it) and I'm house trained too. I do well on a leash. Let's walk! I'm friendly when I meet people though I'm just a little bit shy. Will they like my pink ears? Sorry...I'm obsessed about it. I like other dogs and I enjoy playtime. I'm going to be quite beautiful when my furnishings grow back! I'm ready for you now! I don't want to be missing a forever home any longer! Click the 'Adopt' tab on our website, complete your adoption application and put me, Lexi, as a dog of interest! NOTE: Lexi has been adopted!
