Raptor Rehabilitation Workshop

My name is Rick Foley, even as a child I have always had a love for birds. As an adult I became especially interested in birds of prey, which led me to falconry. My passion for raptors then began to evolve into what some may now refer to an obsession. Over the years I have been successfully practicing falconry and learned a lot about the care and particular housing needs of raptors. In carrying out these daily activities it has introduced me into the world of wild raptor rescue and rehabilitation.   

With this lifelong love and ambition, I have obtained my own permits and necessary licenses to begin my own operation. I am now striving to attain a more medically based knowledge regarding the rehabilitation process. Seeking to expand my knowledge, it was recommended that I partake in a Basic Raptor Rehabilitation Workshop offered by the Raptor Center located at the University of Minnesota. I will have 6 online courses that I will complete before I leave my home in Florida to attend the workshop. Once I arrive in Minnesota I will then attend classes that take place over four days and each class will be eight hours long. The cost of admission into this Workshop is 750.00 dollars. I estimate the total cost of my trip to be around 1,850.00 Dollars. That price includes all classes, hotel accommodations, meals, and transportation. Any money that is over the amount needed to fund my educational experience will be used to build new enclosures for the raptors being rehabilitated.
