2014 Paralegal/Law Program Fall Tuition

I am a registered nurse from Phoenix Arizona who has been battling the Arizona Board of Nursing and Banner Health since early 2011 when I was terminated for protecting the rights of a dying patient who felt they didn't have enough information to make a decision about whether they wanted surgery or to go home. Banner Health Physician Dr. Keng Yu Chuang became angered I educated my patient with hospital approved materials, threw a tantrum, and had the patient's room stripped of any and all education and insisted I be fired and turned over to the state Board of Nursing. You can read about my battle here: www.nurseinterupted.wordpress.com

The Arizona Board of Nursing has been relentless in pursuing me and I have lost everything trying to defend myself against the trumped up charges to keep my license. My daughter and I lost our house, our SUV, and no one will hire me as a nurse in the state of Arizona because I am a nurse whistleblower. The more public I make me and my patient's story the more aggressively the state agency has pursued me. I can no longer afford legal representation and I have to face the Administrative Law Judge, the State Board of Nursing and the Attorney General in January alone where they will likely strip my license-- all stemming from the complaint made by this doctor and me taking me and my patient's story to mainstream media. I have never hurt any patient or killed any patient or used drugs like other nurses the State Board of Nursing continues to allow to practice in the public sector. I deserve to be here taking care of patients because I have grown up with the dream of being a nurse. I was halfway through my Doctorate of Nursing Practice when Dr. Keng Yu Chuang devastated me and my daughter's lives in horrifying and unspeakable ways. I want to get off of welfare, I don't want to be on foodstamps anymore, I want to recreate myself and help people like I know I was meant to be doing.

A recent study reported that four jumbo jets filled with people die each week due to medical errors. Here is what I have done so far to make changes to my profession and patient safety: Developed a nursing education website to support nurses, founded a new national nursing organization to provide much needed emotional support to abused nurses and nurse whistleblowers across the country (www.naasa4hope.wordpress.com) and I am currently working with Arizona State Legislators to design new laws to protect both healthcare providers and patients from the same thing ever happening again in this state. I am also working on developing legislation that will discipline physician for disruptive behavior in patient care settings so that nurses can do what they are educated and licensed to do, and so that patients can be protected to the greatest extent from any ethical violations or threats to patient safety. Nurses involved with my organization are planning on joining me on a trip to Capitol Hill to speak before Congress about changing the federal laws so that retaliation against nurses who are trying to protect patients will no longer be tolerated.

****UPDATE: Judge Mihalksy ruled on March 7, 2013 that nurses are not covered under the first amendment rights as are other citizens when it comes to expressing their freedom of speech when criticquing government officials or government agencies, nor are nurses allowed to speak out about wrongs that have been done to their patients, her ruling enfornced that nurses must remain silent at all costs. No matter the situation, that HIPPPA comes before patient safety and ethics.

I have decided based on legal adviced from three leading firms in the valley to cease with the Superior Court case because they said I would be tossed back and forth between courts for a long period of time on technicalities. Due to my poor health I cannot continue to do that. Instead I am focusing on performing an intensive research study of the Arizona Board Of Nursing for the past ten years and writing the book I want to get published for every nurse to have access to read and learn from.

If you are so inclined, I could use help with my school fees and books for fall semester.

Thank You.
