Everything starts April 5th, however, the hotel alone is over $200/night. This is before the gas (over 5 hour drive to Key West) & food cost. We have explained to Shea that the hotel cost alone for this one event would be almost TWO events later, so he is okay skipping Key West if we have to.
Deerfield isn't far behind and he is getting excited to see his "crew" soon!!!
Please visit - Shea watches his web counter like a hawk and gets VERY excited to see a new country or city on his map light up! There is video of him watching his hit counter go up to 250 people on his site at one time and it is awesome to watch how happy he gets.
So even if you can't donate right now, stop by, visit, and share with your friends & family!
Thank you all for everything you do to help us, help Shea!
Big thanks to Suzy, Jon, Cassandra, Charles, and our friends in Kentucky... the Grays, for your support. Shea is SO excited and can't wait for Tybee Island Georgia. He keeps asking "how long?" and it's always followed by "awwww, I wish it was this weekend!"
Thanks so much to Richard, Anna, Brady, Grace, Robert and Jason for your rockin' donations heading into FLAGLER WEEK! How awesome, Shea is DEFINATELY going to be a rock star this weekend at Flagler Beach! :-)
With your donations over the past few days, we were able to get Shea his first surfboard! The new GoPro Hero3 camera is mounted and tomorrow he'll be hitting Cocoa Beach!
PLEASE make sure to check out his website for pictures, video and news at www.PuzzledSurfer.com
Thank you everyone for your support and please keep spreading the word on Facebook and Twitter!
A HUGE thanks for donations this week!
The Brunner's got things started with getting Shea his wetsuit. The Gray's made a generous recurring monthly donation of $20 and wrapping up the week was the sponsorship of GoPro providing Shea with a Hero3 Black Surf edition camera!
We can't thank you all enough!
Look for updated photos and video from Shea surfing on his website, www.PuzzledSurfer.com!
WHO IS THE PUZZLED SURFER? Puzzled Surfer is a loving reference to our 13 year old son, Shea. Shea has Asperger Syndrome (AS), an autism spectrum disorder (hence- the puzzle reference.) As a result it seriously impacts Shea's ability to participate in many social and extracurricular activities with his peers. He must learn things certain ways and there can be quite a learning curve that, in a typical instructional setting, usually ends in frustration with little desire or interest to continue the activity.
But, then came surfing... We took Shea to an event held by a tremendous organization, SURFERS FOR AUTISM. These people are incredible and the only thing more amazing is that at these events, our son has the TIME OF HIS LIFE! He now thinks of himself as a "˜professional surfer' WE LOVE IT!! No one judges him, no one makes him feel different--he is free to be himself in an environment where instead of being THAT kid, he's simply just A kid. He is surrounded by a team of 5-6 volunteers (he calls them "his CREW" some of which are pictured below!) where he is taken out to the breakers and simply:surfs.
The relationships he has made with other children and the volunteers at the events are truly heartwarming. As a direct result of the training of the professionals and volunteers with Surfers for Autism, these special days are "incident" free. As we say in our family, they speak Shea!

Our funding request is to cover the travel (gas money est. at $3.89/gal), food ($50/day) and hotel to attend events scheduled for the 2014 season. Hotel prices vary but we stay both nights at whatever venue the SFA has booked allowing Shea to spend time with his friends and crew.
If we are blessed enough to exceed our funding request any money will be applied to next seasons event schedule.
Thank you for reading about us and considering our need! The Edmondson-Wood Family
