Street Pianos for Pottsville

In late 2013 the communities Street Piano Project commenced in the City of Pottsville. Street Pianos are a new program designed to encourage appreciation of music and the arts.
The innovative project will endeavor to place street pianos throughout the city, decorated by local artists and open for all music aficionados to play.
In the inaugural year Street Piano placed one piano at 2nd and Market Street. This was a great opportunity for us to highlight a new program and provide a concrete example of what the project hopes to do within the community.
It is our hope to identify up to 5 spaces in which to place pianos. Those areas would ideally have an overhang or awning to protect the pianos from the elements. Further, we will be seeking organizations interested in sponsoring a piano. Full Sponsorships are $750 per piano, with partial sponsorships available. That money will allow us to move, tune, paint and store these unique works of art.
It is our hope that you will thoughtfully consider sponsoring a portion or a full piano. This is a great opportunity for an aging musical instrument to be played, enjoyed and a central piece of community building. We anticipate that there will be hundreds if not thousands of musical moments shared on these pianos in the upcoming years.
