Phoenix Run Campaign

We are HERE after a long road and need you to join us in the next phase of bringing this unique Sci-Fi Horror series to the masses by helping us get to the next step!

The total amount needed to cover production , marketing and promotions is $86,000 but we have decided to raise funding by setting incremental goals.  These are called "stretch goals" and all the details of what they are and what needs will be covered with each goal is explained below. (who doesn't love math,  right?)

Imagine knowing exactly what you wanted to do with your life from a very young age.  Now imagine that you are moving closer to achieving it.  That is where I am  with Phoenix Run!  I could fill this page by telling you the path I took but wanted to get right to the point. Sure, it may help if you know I started drawing at the age of five and had written and illustrated my comic books by the time I was in high school.  (these are my actual drawings from high school)

however, the more I wrote the more I understood what I wanted you to know.

Most young boys have an affinity with the super hero and I was no different.  As I got older I grew tired of seeing others do what I believed I could do….to create something that encompassed  people's love for a super hero..... but with a twist.  I buckled down and went to college to learn digital media and knew right away that I wanted to start on a film project.  I understood the marketability of both the super hero genre and the public's fascination with zombies.  For me it was obvious what needed to happen. Find a way to combine the two.

PHOENIX RUN was the result!

The STORY
Years ago we figured out how to make ourselves supermen through nano technology. Only the rich and powerful were able to buy the expensive serums, This birthed the decade of the supermen. At the end of the decade crime across America was down 60% and America won 2 wars, it was the golden age, until the Z_strain infection arrived. A superhero got sick and infected the whole world with a highly contagious super bug called the Z-strain… It’s been years since Z-Strain pandemic ravaged the world and turned the peaceful populace into blood-mad savages.  Those that survived the initial chaos were reborn in blood, because the only way to return to normal is to take a vaccine every month or drink and feed on blood.

On the backs of the dead and rotted, New America’s corporate machine has rebuilt itself.  Seven cities remain whole, testaments to the sound capitalist structure of the former USA.  Power is back, cell phones are working again, and Starbucks has resumed its daily latte sales.  But the return to creature comforts came at a deep cost…only the swindlers and the rich can afford to keep up their daily vaccinations while the poor are destined to fall victim to the virus in refugee camps and broken slums.

But hope is on the horizon, a military research firm has found the cure to Z-Strain and in the right hands it could mean a return to the world that was before.  But as we all know, the right hands are rarely the ones that hold the answer…

Once I had the story I began researching local talent and was fortunate enough to find Rick Walters (Scamp, Trauma, Grimm , Talk it Up TV) who then introduced me to others who would eventually join the Phoenix Run team .  Both Rick and I directed the "Home" episode and his ability to work with me to give the ideas life is undeniable! (that's Rick, below, on the set of "Home")

Since it was first screened at Wizard World in January of 2013 our team  has been on a nonstop campaign to make our presence be known. Upon winning the “Sprit of Comic Con" Award, we were asked to continue to screen at all of the following  Wizard World tour dates.  This meant we had to travel so we could maximize our reach to the fans by setting up booths and sitting on panels. The amount of support we received was inspiring and only fueled our desire to push harder!

The first installment ( Catch a Rat) won Best Short,  Best Horror and Best Ensemble Performance and"Home" has already begun to receive high praise Winning "Best Web Series" at STIFF 2015

City Arts Magazine review

Our efforts and dedication (showing up at every Wizard World screening) did not go unnoticed and we were approached by Wizard World CEOJohn Macaluso about joining the line up on their new online channel, ConTV! You can imagine how thrilled we all were to actually be speaking to someone about distributing the series. Picture long road trips, putting every dime into posters, shirts, post cards, and comic books (not to mention travel expenses) to then finally be a few steps from having it all pay off!

Although ConTv is interested, we have to fund the series ourselves, (insert sigh here) with your help, of course!

In addition to working with top industry professionals, JWalk Entertainment ( that's my entertainment company) has partnered with Home Life, Tacoma, a boys group home, to teach the youth production from concept to product. Home Life youth have created promotional posters for “Phoenix Run” in the past and continue to receive hands on experience with the process.  (they did this one!)

I am committed to area youth and have created short horror movie clips with the assistance of the teens I supervise.  Phoenix Run is the epitome of a young man’s dream (mine) realized through hard work, focus and determination. What better way to give youth hope beyond thier perceived limitations than to show them it is possible!

Along with the Web Series,  JWalk Entertainment has launched a console/mobile video game and both a traditional comic AND an interactive digital comic book. I knew from the beginning that Phoenix Run would be a TRANSMEDIA project (telling a story across multiple media)

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and to those of you who will play a role in helping us reach this first goal!

Any amount you give means that you believe in the project....that you WANT to see the next episode, and that is truely priceless.  Unfortunately, producing and promoting it is not and we have calculated that price to be $86k.

Let's work together to bring Phoenix Run to life!
