Paris Needs Our Help!!

Paris needs us!!!

Paris, a nine year old French Bulldog is an emotional support dog for my good friend Terry. Terry and Paris live in Chico, California. Paris is an amazing little dog. She started her life as a breeder in a puppy mill in Oklahoma. Terry found out about her and flew all the way there from California to adopt her from the French Bulldog Village Rescue five years ago. Paris has had several medical issues through out her life including spinal surgery three years ago when suddenly her hind legs became paralyzed due to a errupted disk.  Thanks to the great vet doctors at UC Davis animal hospital, she recovered her ability to walk again! Terry has been able to cover all of her care. As a senior on a fixed income now, it has been getting harder for Terry to cover Paris' medical expenses.

Paris now needs soft palate surgery because her elongated palate is restricting airflow to her lungs. Consequently, she is unable to be outside when it is hot and cannot run or play with her Frenchie friends like she wants to. She gets overheated very quickly. As the airflow restriction has gotten worse, she has now had two episodes of syncopy, which is scary when you haven't seen it before in a dog. At first we thought it was perhaps seizures, but after the second one her vet, Dr. James Esh, diagnosed it as syncopy, literally feinting due to not enough oxygen to the brain.

Without this surgery her condition will continue to deteriorate with additional complications of congestive heart failure, and eventually, death. She is nine years old with a life expectancy of 10-12 years. We would do anything to releave her disability and suffering and make her remaining time on this earth as healthy and comfortable as possible. She is a most joyful dog and brings pleasure to everyone who meets her. Let's make it possible to extend her life longer. This little dog had a rough start, but found herself an angel in Terry. They truly have a bond that is special. This little dog means the world to Terry and I want to keep it that way.

We need about $1800.00 for the surgery. All donations will be funneled to Valley Oak Veterinary hospital in Chico, CA. Dr. Esh, who has a specialty in echocardiology and cardiology, is Paris' primary care physician.  Dr. Katja Lin, veterinary surgeon, will perform the surgery. If you prefer, donations can be made directly to the hospital.  Please call Valley Oak Veterinary Center at [phone redacted]. We will post updates on Paris' pre- and post-surgery progress.

We sure will appreciate your contribution towards funding Paris' surgery. It will be a joy and a relief to see her normal breathing capacity restored so she can run and play again!
