Good People of America,
My name if Teddy Gilmore, Myself and Marsette Mangum put together a world class restaurant called Nouveau Tavern... our dream was to have a restaurant in River North where our friends could enjoy great food, great music and a great atmosphere.
Our Dream quickly turned into a Nightmare.... Almost from the time we opened, we have been unfairly targeted by the neighborhood and the alderman because our clientele is 85% African American. We were illegally shut down last April with false claims of not having the proper licenses. We were quickly reopened and found to be in compliance in the administrative court. Last August someone vandalized the front of the restaurant with Graffiti that said "N*gg**s Go Home”
We've had constant harassment from the city of Chicago. The latest tatic comes so far out of left field... its hard to believe. The City of Chicago is using a little known city ordinance called "Drug & Gang Disorderly House" in an attempt to permanently close Nouveau Tavern. They have called an emergency Motion which requires us to go to trial on Thursday April 16th. The City has assembled a powerful legal team, utilizing its Top Corporation Lawyers. Last Thursday they had over 30 police officers show up to go against Nouveau Tavern.
Let's make no mistake, the city is using the old corporate play book... "Make them Bleed Money until they Die"
Our game plan is simple...WE PLAN ON FIGHTING! In order to mount a legal defense against the city ( We have 4 days)... We need your support! No amount is to small...
As a show of gratitude, upon Nouveau Tavern re-opening... Anyone who donates, we will give 50% of the amount donated back in food/and or drinks. (Example: If you donate $50, you will recieve $25 off food/drinks next time at Nouveau Tavern.
