Give Nick The Gift of Sight

Nicholas is only seventeen years old, but he is already become quite the accomplished cellist. This is evident in him being invited to play at the world renowned Carnegie Hall, and he wants to make music into his career.

 

However, right now, this is an impossible dream. In order to try out for many of the established symphonies Nicholas needs to be able to pass a sight reading component (read music) in order to pass auditions, and he can’t—he is legally blind. Currently, Nicholas has to memorize every song he plays (each music piece can potentially be a daunting 12 pages or more). He currently is active in the Gwinnett County Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestra at his high school.

 

With eSight, Nicholas can read all the music he wants—at his demo, the minute he could see sheet music, he started moving his fingers as if he was playing his instrument! That’s not all he could see—for the first time ever, he could see what was outside the window. He was absolutely amazed that he could see every person walking down the street...people that his family couldn’t even see!

 

In the meantime, Nicholas has to zoom in on everything he wants to read. As mentioned before, Nicholas is in high school, and has to rely on only a couple of devices to assist in accomplishing regular school tasks; such as homework. For example, taking pictures of sentences on worksheets and viewing them on his phone or using a bulky magnifier. He can’t wait to get his eSight, as it would be the only piece of equipment he’d need to read, play music, and assist in daily living tasks…for life!
