Phil, Sandro, and Nick are three guys that met in college and have become good friends over the last 7 years. With the three of us still trying to figure out our futures, we decided to put our careers on hold and do something awesome that we would remember for the rest of our lives.
On April 29, 2016, we will be departing from the Jersey Shore and riding bicycles westbound across the United States with intentions of arriving at the Pacific Ocean near San Francisco. We are anticipating the entire trip taking almost two months, spanning over 3,500 miles.
None of us are married, have kids, mortgages, or our dream jobs yet - so we decided this would be a perfect time to take advantage of an opportunity that we may never have again. Another big reason for this trip is that we all have a desire to travel and there are so many places in the US that we haven’t seen yet.
We are not avid cyclists. In fact, we haven’t ridden bicycles in 5+ years. Through self-funding we have purchased tons of supplies for the trip, including; Bicycles, tents, panniers (saddle bags for the bikes), camping gear, extra tubes, tools, padded spandex shorts, maps, odometer, etc. To minimize our expenses on the trip we are going to camp and use free websites/apps such as WarmShowers.org and Couchsurfing.com.
We are looking for some help while on the road. This GoFundMe account was created with intentions to purchase food, water and any supplies we need on our 7 week trip from New Jersey to California.
