NICU Graduation Caps
Donation protected
My goal is to make the milestone of families bringing their baby home from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) a little extra special!
I am a mother of two and each child was admitted into the NICU unit, immediately after birth. The days and nights are hard when you’re little one isn’t beside you. The emotions of being a new parent on top of adjusting to the NICU world is difficult.
When the day comes and you’re told the words you’ve longed to hear. Your baby can go home! You’re beyond thrilled .. It’s such a big moment - there should be a balloon drop or nurses/doctors lined up in the hall waving and giving high fives as you leave. That’s not reality but it can be more and I want to help do just that. By giving each NICU graduate a cap!
The idea started by a pin on pinterest. I followed the link that lead me to this article
This gave me the idea to bring this special moment to my area. I contacted the nurse from the article and have incorporated and revised to fit our needs.
NICU parenting is a tough way to start but the future is bright!
Our current hospital of choice is St. Louis Childrens Hospital who discharges approximately 1,200 patients a year. As of December 2018, we have delivered 305 caps which meets 26% of our goal.
*We are not affiliated with St. Louis Children's Hospital in any way.
How your money will be used:
ALL proceeds will go towards making the caps. It will be used for supplies, equipment and any room rental fees needed for group making events. When all caps are complete it is possible and a goal to continue to another hospital! If project does not continue on all remaining money will be donated to their NICU unit.
